METROBUS - BRESCIA: A NEW MILLENNIUM DRIVERLESS METRO FOR A MEDIUM-SIZED CITY

Brescia Metrobus, a fully automated driverless metro, is a third millennium solution to public transportation problems in a medium-sized city with growing development utilising up-to-date proven technology. The solution selected is very similar to the Copenhagen driverless metro (the most modern metro in the world, according to the definition given by Orestadsselskabet - the Client), tailor-made for this new dimension and environment involving city and provincial life, and encompassing the lessons learned during its construction and the start up of the operational service. Brescia Metrobus is expected to open its 19 hours passenger service from 5:00 to 24:00 by the end of the year 2008, with further extensions that will surely contribute to a drastic reduction in traffic congestion and pollution.
