摘要

Aluminium alloy armour (7017) plates have been subjected to high velocity impact by using three types of soft projectiles. The variation in the microstructure, hardness and damage pattern with respect to different projectiles has been studied. The microstructure variations have been correlated with the kinetic energy of the projectile imparted on the target plates. The failure modes in the targets impacted by the deformable projectiles are compared and analyzed.
