Prediction of various temporal and spatial features of the transients in plate impact is useful for experimental characterization of impact phenomena . This paper highlights some of the characteristic signatures of strains in an infinite plate subjected to an impulse to interpret experimental observations. The impulse response is used for predicting the strain generated by the impact lasting for a finite duration. Predicted strains are compared with experimentally recorded signals at different locations from the impact site.
