The interfacial bond toughness between the face sheets and the core has continued to be a limiting parameter in design of sandwich structures. An accurate method of measurement and data reduction is essential to reduce to the potential for errors and uncertainty. Cracked sandwich beam specimen and compliance calibration(CC) methods are commonly used to measure opening mode fracture toughness. The paper evaluated both modified beam theory(MBT) and modified compliance calibration method(MCC) that are successfully used for double cantilever beam(DCB) testing for cracked sandwich beam (CSB) specimens. The deformation mechanics of DCB and CSB are similar under opening mode loading all three methods are found to be valid while MET and MCC gave almost identical results. The simplicity of MBT method compels it to be used for data reduction of CSB test.
