COST-EFFECTIVE HIGH PERFORMANCE SANDWICH SOLUTIONS AS APPLIED ON BOFORS MK3 GUN SHIELD

The Bofors MK3 Gun Shield is designed and manufactured in accordance with strict operational requirements. This paper discusses the design phase, materials selection criteria, manufacturing and cost aspects. The design covers structural analysis and material selection. Choice of manufacturing process may be seen both as an integrated part of design as well as a move towards more environment friendly methods of production. One section of this paper describes simulation of the vacuum infusion process, followed by a review of cost as a function of the chosen materials and manufacturing process.
