Processing of high corrosion-resistant special high-grade steels and nickel-base alloys requires the development of flexible, reliable and efficient techniques to secure a high corrosion resistance of the welded structures as well as an effective welding fabrication. Especially for welding thin plates the examined hybrid welding technique (combination of Nd:YAG-laser beam and TIG arc with hot wire feeding) is superior to the single TIG welding process as well as to the single laser welding process. The hybrid welding technique can offer an economic problem solution for wallpapering of flue-gas desulfurizing (FGD) plants in connection with field-suitable welding robot systems.
