A hybrid solar-biomass drying system was developed to demonstrate the adaptability and viability of renewable energy (RE) drying technologies in ceramic manufacturing. Temperature and humidity-control were found to be critical in effectively adapting RE dryers to industrial processes. The drying system costs can be recovered in less than two years which can be financed through the additional income due to increase in production throughput and reduction of reject rates.
