Biomass pyrolysis at high temperature is the first step of the whole thermochemical process taking place in a fluidised bed gasifier; it influences strongly the final fuel gas composition. In this work biomass devolatilisation and char combustion have been studied as a function of time in a bubbling fluidised bed environment. The influence of wood particle size and moisture content, bed temperature and fluidising velocity has been investigated.
