To study the effect of the gravity field on dynamics of a space deployable truss structure with joint clearances, experiments were carried out on a reduced size model The truss was placed in a horizontal level, hanging up each of its components by two rubber strings. Then it was put in a vertical plane and supported at upside, lateral and bottom in sequence. Three methods were used to stimulate the truss's vibration. Vibration acceleration were detected by accelerometers and recorded by a digital collector. Experimental results show that the nonlinear phenomena were found stronger gradually when the truss was supported at bottom, lateral, upside in vertical plane, and in horizontal level accordingly.
