Cu-ion exchanged MFI zeolites (Cu-MFIs) were obtained through the solid-state (SS) ion-exchange reaction when the mixtures of various Cu precursors and NH4-MFI were heated under evacuation at 500 °C and 800 °C. The SS exchange reaction with nitrate and acetate proceeded more easily than those with the other precursors of oxide, chloride and carbonate. The Cu-MFIs prepared by the SS exchange method with nitrate was the most active among the SS-exchanged catalysts and more active than that prepared by the conventional liquid-phase ion exchange method.
