Growth and Condition of Endemic Trout Salmothymus obtusirostris in Jadro, a Dalmatian River

The Dalmatia ichthyofauna is the most clearly distinguished of the Euro-Mediterranean sub-region (East Adriatic River system), including a high number of endemic fish species (Economidis and Banarescu 1991). Soft-muzzled or Adriatic trout Salmothymusobtusirostris is one of these endemics. This species is endangered by river regulation, hydro-electricity generation, and industrial pollution as well as existing in a very restricted distribution (Povz et al. 1990; Mrakovcic et al. 1995).
