摘要

A green-field carbon anode baking furnace (Bake 3) was installed at Hawesville, Kentucky as part of the Fifth Potline expansion project in July 1999. The design of this furnace was based on computer modeling techniques, which looked at gas flows, pressures, temperature distributions, and species concentrations. The major design considerations were strength, flow, draft and their impact on anode quality, operating efficiency, and refractory maintenance costs. This paper discusses the furnace design, operating characteristics and performance over the first two years of operation.
