In this paper, an algorithm to construct semi-orthogonal wavelet packets of L~2(R~s) associated with a multiresolution analysis generated by an arbitrary dilation matrix M satisfying |det M| = 2 is presented. The coefficients used in the constructing of the wavelet packets need not be the low-pass filter and the high-pass filter associated with the MRA. Furthermore, this wavelet packet is a generalization of the basic wavelet packets. All these give us a chance to construct various bases of L~2(R~s) according to any practical problem at hand.
