Supported cobalt (Co) catalysts are preferred for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) due to their high activity for FTS based on natural gas, high selectivity to long chain hydrocarbons, and low activity f~1or the competitive water-gas shift reaction. However, under pretreatment and/or reaction conditions, the formation of Co and the support results in a lower activity of the catalysts due to a loss in active Co metal available for reaction. Besides silica (SiO_2) and alumina (Al_2O_3), titania (TiO_2) is one of supports used for Co catalysts. It is known that Co can form Co-Support compound formation (Co-SCF) with silica and alumina under pretreatment and reaction conditions. However, Co-SCF with titania support has been rarely studied. In the present study, the nature of Co-SCF in titania-supported Co catalysts were investigated.
