The Effect of Impregnation Method of Pd and Ni on HY-Zeolite toward Its Characters on Hydrocracking of Butonian Asphalt-derived Asphaltene
Preparation and characterization of Ni-Pd/Y-zeolite catalyst and its modification for hydrocracking of Butonian asphalt-derived asphaltene has been investigated in order to provide insight into the effect of impregnation method of Pd and Ni on the HY-zeolit (H/Z) sample toward its characters on the hydrocracking. The asphaltene was a pentane insoluble-benzene soluble (PI-BS) fraction of Butonian asphalt. The impregnatio of Pd and Ni metal on to the zeolite was performed in two ways: (1) the Pd was previously impregnated followed by the Ni produced a Ni-Pd/Y-zeolite (Ni-Pd/Z) catalyst and (2) the Ni was previously impregnated followed by the Pd produced a Pd-Ni/Y-zeolite (Pd-Ni/Z) catalyst. Total initial metal content was 1 wt.% based on the zeolite, the ratio of Ni/Pd was 3/1. The characterization of catalysts consists of determination of specific surface area, total pore volume and average pore radius based on the BET equation, acidity by a temperature program desorption of ammonia method.
