CHARACTERISTICS AND MANUFACTURING SYSTEM CAPABILITIES DATABASE FOR CAPP UTILIZATION

The worked out creating database method, which includes complex description of all manufacturing system objects, the production capabilities modelling and storing method, are presented in this paper. The developed database architecture in network environment (according to CE trends), which enables integration with other systems e.g. CAPP, is also described. The universal database scheme recording method is presented. The database structure contains: technical characteristics of all manufacturing system objects recording, kinematic structures for complex devices (e.g. machine tools, robots) recording and manufacture capabilities recording in the form of activities occurring in the manufacturing process. Kinematics devices recording allows to calculate real position of workpiece or tool in workspace for given configuration. Also allows to check realizability of activities in a given manufacturing system automatically.
