A Ni-based alloy (NiCrBSi) of extended use in industry is analysed under abrasion test in this paper using the Design of Experiments Methodology (DOE). In addition to studying the abrasive wear behaviour, it was desired to know the validity of the DOE in laboratory studies with high results variability. Four factors were studied: environmental (with dry and wet abrasive particles), morphology of the abrasive particles, load, and the presence of WC particles in the matrix. DOE allows establishing the influence of main factors as much as their interactions. The morphology of the abrasive, the distribution of the WC in the matrix and the interaction between both factors were discussed.
