The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) paradigm offers an intuitive approach for resource discovery and sharing, often without the necessity of a central authority or server. At present, the emphasis is mainly on sharing information and computing power, but other kind of services could be considered. P2P systems are intended for applications requiring high level of cooperation and communication, and the goal is to efficiently leverage the available computing power, bandwidth and other services among the peers.
