A new biaxial tension-test machine - the testing machine for rubber-like materials (TM4Rubber) was developed for facilitating study of the mechanical properties of rubber-like materials, with a view to qualifying their performance under biaxial tensile loading conditions. The data obtained was used for establishing constitutive descriptions of the materials and further initiating simulation and analysis of Pressure-Assisted Injection Forging (PAIF) of tubular components which involves the use of rubber-like materials as the pressurising medium. The experiment showed that the machine is reliable for producing sufficiently accurate data, while qualification of the material properties has enabled better understanding of the rubber's behaviours during the PAIF process, and hence, resulted in a guideline for selecting the rubber-like materials as the pressuring medium of PAIF.
