摘要

The tribological behavior of Fe(WC)/Ni(WC) composite coatings against Al_2O_3 sapphire ball under dry sliding at room temperature is investigated using a ball-on-disc tribometer (UMT TriboLab, USA). The composite coatings were prepared by twin-wire arc spraying (TWAS) and cored wires. The effect of normal load on coefficient of friction (CoF) and wear loss/rate of the coating are analyzed. Meanwhile, the white light interferometer (Contour GT, USA) is also used to investigate the 3D morphology and 2D contour curve of worn surface about the composite coatings. The results show that the CoF of the coating is lower and the average steady state value is 0.54. The wear loss and wear rate of the coating are 1.34 mg and 3.3×10~(-5) mm~3·N~(-1)·m~(-1), respectively which indicates that the coating have a good wear performance. The 3D morphology and 2D contour curve analysis of worn surface attest that the wear mechanisms of the coating is mainly determined by the mixed effect of plastic deformation, abrasive wear and fatigue wear at room temperature.
