This research was focused on design and manufacturing of a new fire protection suit through reverse engineering of an existing product as per customer's request. Products available in the market were unable to provide sufficient protection and hence could not be used for fire entry for long durations. Users were unable to perform their tasks due to various degrees of burns even for a short duration of exposure to fire. As a part of reverse engineering process; fabric of the current suit was identified as a critical part. Numerous materials were investigated and finally one material was selected through extensive experimental testing as per established fire safety standards. Its properties of temperature resistivity were compared with original fire suit material and were found much higher resistance. Internal lining were added to the suit which further decreased the temperature faced by a body even while exposed to direct fire for long durations.
