The paper investigates the influence of the structure type (ferrite, ferrite + perlite and tempered sorbite) and the structure parameters (grain and subgrain sizes, size and distribution of sulphide particles) on the mechanism and rate of fatigue crack propagation in low-alloy structural steels. The investigation results are obtained using electron microscopy (on foil and carbon replicas) and scanning techniques.
