Based on the hydrogeological conditions within the influence area of the Yellow River in Henan Province, Yuanyang, China, a three - dimension flow model was set up by using FEFLOW. The relation between the Yellow River and the groundwater was simulated under various conditions (seasonal and year average, within 75% confidential level). For the planned water supply area, Simulation results indicate that, within eight years pumping, the shallow groundwater flow and infiltration from the Yellow River will be stabilized under pumping rate 4.86 x 10~8 m~3/a. After 10 years pumping, the infiltration will be 1.02 x 10~8 m~3/a and take approximately 70% of the pumping water.
