摘要

The biphasic anaerobic treatment of distillery spentwash using upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) at pilot plant scale has been described. The acidogenic phase of this system is a suspended growth process whereas the methanogenic phase is UASB. This system can treat high strength spentwash without dilution or addition of nutrients. COD removal of 70.8% was obtained at an organic loading rate of 6.05 kg COD/m~3/day and a hydraulic retention time of 16.5 days.
