Use of the Aviation Maintenance Automated Tracking System (AMATS) for Improved Data Feed into U.S. Army Maintenance Information Systems

The Aviation Maintenance Automated Tracking System (AMATS) was developed to automate the DA Form 2410 process and set up data flow connectivity between the U.S. Army Aviation units and the Maintenance Consolidated Database System (MCDS) located at the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Integrated Material Management Center (IMMC). The goal was to provide the soldier a user friendly automated tool that allows accurate data collection in accordance with Army regulations while reducing the amount of manual data entry. This included the challenge of sending this data electronically from the aviation unit to the MCDS database for immediate access. The AMATS effort has successfully developed a deployable capability to fully automate the DA Form 2410 process and significantly reduce the administrative burden associated with critical asset tracking and historical record keeping. The AMATS team has developed the end-to-end process that tracks critical Aviation assets from the original aircraft manufacturer, through operational usage, and during the maintenance and overhaul processes and has automated the migration of asset historical data into the consolidated data base at AMCOM headquarters. These capabilities have been "Soldier Tested" in a Longbow Apache Battalion and can be deployed to other army units.
