Sheet Printability - A Primary Driving Force for Current Trends and Developments in Porous Pressing Media

An overview of porous pressing media technologies currently being used to address sheet smoothness and printability issues on paperboard/packaging grades will be presented. Areas covered will include a discussion of recent developments in base fabric, batt fiber, and needling technology along with conditioning considerations and a glimpse into the future from an R&D perspective. The overview is presented from a practical perspective with an emphasis on new technologies and processes currently utilized on production paper machines and a discussion of documented field results.
