The slurry is a major component of the Investment Casting Process. Therefore, it is very important to maintain stability and repeatability when mixing and maintaining slurries. This paper is a brief summary of how biodeterioration can affect the slurry portion of the Investment Casting Process. It then reviews the different biocide options available to control the microbiological contamination. In conclusion, it will discuss ways to minimize microbiological risk with effective plant sanitation programs.
