This paper presents the knowledge acquisition process for reliability modeling of speed-governing hydraulic systems for hydroelectric turbines. The knowledge acquisition process seeks to set up a knowledge base constituted by rules. These rules will be part of a future expert system that will make inferences for allocation of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities for each hydraulic component. The main objective is to provide reliability models of hydraulic systems as main focus of this paper.
