The benefits of electro-hydraulic applications in mobile machinery are the reason for wide spread market acceptance. Because of this a large number of proportional pressure reducing valves, which are often used as pilot stage, are produced. Despite the intensive development and optimized production processes, small deviations between the valves (valve-to-valve accuracy) cannot be avoided. For some applications it is necessary to adjust the valve characteristics to increase accuracy. This paper shows different examples of valve adjustment with and without the compensation of the main hydraulic function that is piloted including new approaches in mechanical and electronic adjustments. The systems are compared with regards to functionality, price and benefit.
