New Perspectives on Diagnosis and Treatment of Progressive Ethmoid Hematomas

The treatment approach for progressive ethmoid hematoma should be based on the primary site of the lesion. Noncontact photoablation of the base with a Nd:YAG laser, whether as a primary or adjunctive treatment, prevents recurrence in >80% of cases. Frequent reassessment and aggressive treatment while the mass is small is the key to managing recurrence.
