This paper illustrates the problems faced after the sudden failure of process gas transfer line connected to Secondary reformer. During the emergency repair it was extremely difficult to carry out refractory repair and installation of SS321 liners due to space constraint. Remedial action of insitu refractory repair and SS321 liner was taken up by using simple innovative methods to save time and effort. This resulted in enhanced safety and reliability of operations till new transfer lines are procured and installed.
