摘要

The ability to detect small changes in metal loss in a more sensible time and without the conflict of shorter life has allowed much greater flexibility in probe and system design. Metal loss techniques have been developed sufficiently to allow real time control of corrosion inhibition chemicals; providing long life, low maintenance monitoring; and subsea pipeline applications. For corrosion monitoring applications in hydrocarbons, this technology is uniquely capable of "closing the loop" between laboratory and fieldwork. Its response time and accuracy enables pipeline integrity decisions to be made based on field data. This paper briefly reviews existing techniques of corrosion monitoring, describes the advances and illustrates this with reference to some international case studies.
