Perspectives of the Finnish industrial minerals industry

Production of industrial minerals (excluding constructional materials) in Finland increased significantly in the 1990s and the tonnage output is now many times greater than that of metalliferous minerals. This reflects the increasing demand for paper pigment minerals. Recent exploration by the Geological Survey of Finland has focused on finding new deposits of carbonate rocks, ilmenite, kaolin and talc.
