Media Asset Management Systems in Broadcasting: Resource Management Considerations

摘要

This paper describes a Media Asset Management System developed by INESC Porto, with collaboration of RTP (the Portuguese Public Television Broadcaster) oriented towards the exploitation of television archives but flexible enough to accommodate requirements from any other content owner that needs to store, manage and efficiently access video content for re-purpose, research or business. Besides system architecture and components, the paper discusses the problems of system resources management and proposes an approach based on on-going research in the area of distributed systems in the IT-World.
