In conclusion, it can be said that a large number of actions to minimize the radiological terrorism threat are already being undertaken by the IAEA. However, more can be done, as funding allows. This paper has attempted to provide a logical rationale for the IAEA to: a) modify its existing activities in the area of the safety and security of radiation sources; and, b) to engage in a some specific additional activities to further reduce the risk and impact of radiological terrorism.
