Laparoscopic Colectomy

Most U.S.. general and colorectal surgeons have traditionally used the open approach to colorectal surgery. Approximately 2.5% of colectomies are now performed laparoscopically. These series of lectures details the laparoscopic techniques for the most common colorectal procedures: right hemicolectomy, left hemicolectomy, low anterior rectal resection (LAR), and total colectomy. Controversy surrounding colorectal cancer and minimally-invasive surgery is also addressed.
