摘要

The development of ulcers in the non-glandular pars oesophageal region of the stomach is a common and serious disease affecting swine. Ulcer formation can lead to anorexia, anaemia and weight loss when chronic and is a common cause of sudden death asa result of blood loss into the lumen of the stomach. Even though gastric ulcers are an important disease in swine and often the most common cause of death in grower-finisher barns, the etiology is still not yet fully understood. There appear to be several risk factors related to feeding that are well recognized but there is considerable controversy regarding the role of infectious organisms.
