Necropsy examination of pigs in a nursery and finisher flow

Necropsy is an important management tool. Utilizing necropsy data offers opportunities to increase knowledge of diseases within specific flows and greater precision in timing, specificity of treatment, and vaccine intervention. The goal of this studywas to explore the possibilities of increased profitability and employee compliance. This study was conducted over a nine week period from June to August, 2009. The population under observation was the progeny of two comingled 3,000 sow farms. Weaned pigs from these two facilities were mixed upon entry to one of two wean to finish sites that were run as continuous flow nurseries.
