Vaccination of pigs with PRRVENT or PRRSV-RP recombinant vaccines reduces viremia following heterologous challenge

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) continues to be a major problem for the pork industry. We have developed two unique vaccines based on the expression of the PRRSV GP5 and Matrix proteins through a recombinant system. This system utilizes an alphavirus replicon vector to generate either single-cycle replicon particles or recombinant protein. The lack of PRRSV nucleocapsid protein in these vaccines allows for differentiation of vaccinated and infected animals by currently available serological assays.
