Three clades of H1 viruses are presently circulating in US swine: reassortant H1N1 (rHl), HlN2-like HI (H1N2) and human-like H1N1 (huHl). Classical H1N1 (cHl) is less prevalent. The HI strains incorporated into most commercial SIV vaccines are eithercHlNl or rHINl. The purpose of this observational study was to evaluate HI cross-reactions between antisera generated against four vaccine strains and field viruses circulating during recent years. The results of this study will help evaluate potential new commercial vaccine strains.
