More sources or more time: Making decisions on pig flow to optimize pig health

As the industry modernized with the adaptation of batch based production, dramatic improvements in growing pig health have been achieved. These industrial practices have increased capital requirements and in many scenarios this has lead to large sitesthat are many times the daily output of a source farm. This leads production systems to choose between long fill times (greater than 7 days) or multiple source farms. This paper will discuss the tools and data needed to assist in optimizing sourcing decisions with in pig production systems.
