The Camborough from PIC has been the foundation of female genetic improvement within production systems across the globe for years. The original inherent prolificacy of this F1 female allowed the PIC research and development team to focus on improvinghighly heritable growth traits such as feed conversion rate (FCR), backfat (BF) and average daily gain (ADG). In the more recent past, PIC has developed technologies to allow selection for less heritable traits, which include female prolificacy and longevity (Figure 1). Application of these tools for the past 5 years has resulted in significant advancements in the reproductive performance of the Camborough and the Camborough~(R) family of females. The Camborough~(R) 29 (C29), the newest member of the Camborough~(R) family of female products, was developed with total throughput and cost efficiency of an entire production pyramid in mind.
