The effect of various experimental conditions on the in vitro drug release from PLGA microparticles was investigated. Importantly, certain parameters did not only alter the release rate, but also the shape of the release profiles, indicating changes in the underlying mass transport mechanisms (relative importance of dissolution, diffusion and erosion).
