Uptake of FITC-chitosan nanoparticles was 1.81 fold higher than uptake of FITC-chitosan molecules by A549 cells at 37°C, but the nanoparticle and molecule had similar bioadhesion. Uptake of nanoparticles was temperature, time and concentration dependent, with K_m of 3.84 μM. Uptake of chitosan nanoparticles was inhibited by hypertonic sucrose.
