摘要

Gelatin is an irreplaceable binder for silver halide photographic materials, and play important roles in physical and chemical aspects of photographic phenomena. Physical roles include its activities to protect silver halide grains and to control the nucleation and growth of the grains. Chemical roles include its activity to stabilize chemical species and to bring about phenomena by its chemical reactions with silver halide grains. This paper is focused on chemical roles of gelatin in AgBr emulsions.
