Cleavage of the peptide bond is a key event in the chemistry of biological systems.Proteolytic cleavage at monobasic [1] and multibasic [2] sites is the most common processing mechanism to release mature peptide sequences from their larger biosymetic precursors.Generally,the details of the catalytic reaction by which the hydrolysis takes place are well known,particularly for the serine proteases.
