The (3R,5S,6E,8S,10R)-11-amino-3,5,8,10-tetramethyl-undec-6-enoic acid (ATUA) 1,which was used as a beta-turn mimic in this study,is a linear molecule in contrast to most other beta-turn mimics,consisting of mono-or bicyclic structures.[1] The mimic was designed using two cocnepts:the alkylic strain [2] and 2,4-dimethyl pentane units [3] which are found in polyketide natural products.
