摘要

The ballistic efficiency of SiC-Al and B_4C-Al ceramic-metal composites was determined by means of depth of penetration tests with a thick aluminium backing. Both, single ceramic-metal plates and layered targets with varying ceramic/aluminium content were tested. A high-speed photographic study on SiC-Al and B_4C-Al materials with a ceramic content of 80 % (volume) was conducted. The materials were tested by means of the Edge-on Impact technique, which is designed to visualize fracture propagation at impact.
