Integrated Towboat System (Changing The Market Dynamics Of Inland Marine Transportation)

Inland marine transportation is a mature industry in North America and Europe. In South America it is an industry experiencing widespread growth. Developing the inland waterways of Asia also offers opportunities to support the rapidly expanding population of that continent. Kongsberg Simrad AS, a large Norwegian-based group of marine equipment companies, decided to launch a project to explore business opportunities which may apply the company's technology that has been accepted in other marine markets. This paper shall define some of the dynamics of these markets, and how we are able to utilise certain technology to improve productivity and safety.
