PMWS ASSOCIATED WITH PRRS, M. HYOPNEUMONIAE CAR-BACILLUS IN THE CANARY ISLANDS

Problems of Porcine Pneumonia are the result of the interaction between one or more respiratory pathogens. In those produced by bacteria agents the Enzootic Porcine Pneurnoniae (EPP) caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (Mh) is one of the main diseasescausing important economical losses. Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory syndrome (PRRS) and Mh have been closely associated with the porcine disease complex (PRDC). Recently, Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS) is a newly emerged diseaseand PRRS is now endemic in many swine-producing countries. The coinfection of Porcine Circovirus (PCv) and PRRS virus (PRRSv) could increase the severity of the lesions. The description of a new filamentous bacteria associated to the respiratory ephitelium, Cilia Associated Respiratory Bacillus (CAR-bacillus) in sheep and caprine, as well as in porcine, was another question to answer in relation with Mh and its interaction with other bacteria or virus in pigs with PRDC.
